Last month we blogged about what gadgets we wanted for Christmas, and we got some of them! (Yip!).
Well, Christmas came and went and now we are well into January 2015 and it's all about our resolutions for this year.
According to Wikipedia the resolution has an interesting history.
The Babylonians made promises to their gods at the start of each year that they would return borrowed objects and pay their debts.
At Barclay Jones, we've been chatting in the office about this and wanted to share what we have decided to put our names to.
I want to get Fit and Organised
I always start the year with a plan to remember everyone's birthdays. I even add the dates to my Outlook calendar - it never works. I get a few months in and the process fails. I get to the end of the year and feel awful.
A few years back I spent an hour creating a simple spread sheet. I put everyone's birthdays on in date order and then every month I got the cards and presents ready for the following month. (It worked, but then I was on maternity leave and most women I know who have been on mat leave mourn how organised they were...) That is what I plan to do again - the spreadsheet, not the baby!
Plus I have signed up to the Berlin marathon, so I need to get training.
Wayne has (only 5) Resolutions
- Wayne has visions of building a climbing wall in his driveway…
- Getting back into his Budgie Smugglers for Summer Holiday (don’t go there – this is his idea not mine!)
- Spend more time with the family
- Keep Trello up to date
- Expand the business (can point 3 and 5 happen in the same year???) Those of you who run your own businesses and have kids are smiling wryly right now.
Jay wants to Tweet while Stretching
Jay wants to become a Twitter star. She also has designs on being a Pilates queen and wants to get fitter after nearly a year out of the swimming pool. Can she do both at the same time? Pilitter? Twilates?
Rob wants to Get Down and Dirty with Coffee
Rob currently hates coffee – he is a staunch tea-drinker. He wants to himself to like coffee. The team live off of it. I have donated a Nespresso to our new office, and it’s going to be coffee-boot-camp.
Vikram wants to Speed Up and get Tough
Vikram wants to get into more fitness (for example Tough Mudder)
He cycles to work in 20 minutes and wants to nail it in 15 minutes (with literally no stress). And bless him, he wants an avatar like the rest of us.
We have 2 new staff joining us in the coming weeks and I will be grilling them on what their resolutions are.
I bet you have some pretty simple / amazing / achievable / no intention of fulling New Year’s resolutions for 2015. What are they? and do they involve peacocks?
