Lisa joined the committee in June 2010, and saw an opportunity to help the Yorkshire region with a more proactive social media strategy.
She created the Twitter feed (www.twitter.com/iodyorkshire), and developed and ran the blog (www.iodyorkshire.co.uk), and through her efforts, and working with other committee members, quickly developed a voice for the members through these streams.
These streams became a fabulous ground for members and non-members to hear about the region, IoD events and initiatives and generally be more aware of the Institute.
The blog especially was a great success, leading to some days having guest blogs every day. In its first year, it managed to attract 12,000 hits (not bad for a blog run by volunteers) and soon also attracted recognised regional voices, for example, Business Link, Leeds Met and Welcome to Yorkshire. The blog had become a zone where these voices knew they would be heard and engaged with.
The success of these streams led Pall Mall, Head Office to the IoD, to ask for help and advice on its own social media strategy.
