Recruitment Automation: The Re-Humanisation of Recruitment
Bullhorn Engage has come and gone and there were very strong themes. Recruiter Productivity.Sustainability.Profitability. For this to happen Bullhorn1st needs to be a goal – aka using Bullhornfirst in your recruitment workflow. Reducing reliance on data and external systems will decrease costs, speed up placements, and create a more robust recruitment business. And the way to Bullhorn1st? Recruitment Automation and Recruitment Training, of course!Recruitment Automation is So Yesterday!I started using the phrase CRM1st back in the early 2000s. It was borne out of working with 150 busy recruiters who were rapidly being exposed to huge data sets - LinkedIn, job boards, candidates who wielded the Apply button like a Scud missile. But they didn't have the discipline or process to strategically manage the massive increase in data volume or change in candidate behaviour.I used CRM1st (it was Adapt then) to help recruiters new to the recruitment sector to battle their FOMO (fear of missing out). I used CRM1st with experienced recruiters and resourcers to help them not get dragged under by rapidly increasing candidate pools.Have things changed in recent years?Have recruiters gotten better at managing their data, recruitment technology, candidate and client experience? Has the colleague experience improved now we have so much data and rec tech that should theoretically make recruitment easier....? Unfortunately, I'm not sure things have changed (enough).Recruiters have been running to catch up. But the faster they run, the bigger the data set becomes, the more competition they have (even from their own clients), and the more tech they feel they need just to stand still.Recruiter Frustration – Ready, Fire, AimI'm frustrated with the sector that can't seem to grasp what it's good at... Niche specialisms +Nurtured communities of candidates and clients reliant on great recruiters +Colleagues delivering best practice and making a difference, changing lives. But that "goodness" can't happen without focus. And how can a recruiter focus with huge data sets, too much tech and not enough process?Whether you have Bullhorn or another recruitment CRM, it needs to be first on your list to source, engage, nurture, and place from - if it’s not 1st, everyone loses. (Apart from the software company you buy comfort from!)Automation – The Re-Humanisation of Recruitment! Automation for my clients has become the missing link. It’s been around for years, but now automation is really being used to take away the pain, and the admin. Recruitment Automation is being used to drive the best of behaviours. It's enabling CRM1st (aka Bullhorn1st). It’s creating time for training – for all, not just new recruiters! And it’s creating time for trained recruiters empowered to get on the phone and do some good. Once you automate what you can, you can train what’s left – and what should be left is the gold in the recruitment process – humans! More effective sourcingSpeedier screening designed to prevent counter offers Interviews with clients who move to placement uninterrupted Placements and onboarding designed to generate referrals Recruiters need training on their systems and process so that they can deliver what their clients pay for. Automation creates space and time for this training to happen. Automate What You Can - Train What's Left If you can automate what you can, and train what's left, then your data, your database, and your 3Cs (candidates, clients, colleagues) will be in a really good place, perhaps even 1st place, for the rest of this year and beyond. What are you going to automate? What training is needed to deliver sustainable recruitment business? My team can help with both of these key goals.Paul Robson, The Crew Hunter. We have managed to restructure our business, with more recruiters and more time to recruit. And the ROI from our Bullhorn Automation training? Time Saved. Admin Removed. Staff Efficiency. We've saved 45 hours with 1,345 automated actions in just 8 weeks. Plus, we built 3 automations at the beginning of the project which allowed us to remove an old core process which freed up space for another recruiter.Talking of Recruiters Getting More Automated!...Using recruitment automation to improve data, process, candidates and client experience - that's a great goal! But you also need to free up your recruiters to be exceptional And they need training for this. Our high intensity interval training - Recruitment HIIT - helps recruiters source, convert quicker, and develop healthy pipelines. We aim to save every recruiter and resourcer at least 1 hour per day (6 working weeks a year) - more billing time, more fees!TRY RECRUITMENT HIITREAD ABOUT OUR BULLHORN AUTOMATION BUDDYBOOK A CALL TO DISCUSS RECRUITMENT TRAINING

Recruiters need more time, engaged candidates, and a stronger sales pipeline. Recruitment Leaders need that too, plus, trained and engaged recruiters, tech ROI, best practice, profit, and stability.I recently spoke at the Recruitment Agency Expo London on the topic 'Automation - How to Improve Recruiter Performance" and I wanted to share my talk and takeaways.Improving Recruiter Performance With AutomationNow more than ever improving recruiter productivity and performance is critical. Recruitment Automations - Making Them Work First Time
This year is the year for recruiters to be more effective, more organised, have cleaner data, and more engaged clients and candidates. We love Bullhorn Automation (AKA Herefish). It's been a fantastic tool to help our clients speedily reboot their sales and recruitment processes. For Bullhorn Automation, as with all recruitment automations, you need to ensure the right criteria is pulled into your automations so that it does a lot of your heavy lifting. What are my tips to nail this so you can focus on the “good stuff” – candidate and client management and sales?A Great Tip for Ensuring Your Bullhorn Automations WorkBullhorn Automation lists control which data you “attack” and clean / nudge / change / delete / automate. As an example, the Contact Advanced Search is one of my favourite ways to design a list (and make sure that I get it right). The recruitment businesses I train on Bullhorn Automation always find this tip really useful. It’s an easy way to experiment with your search criteria and in a safe environment.Do you want to ensure that you nail your lists the first time? (Of course you do!)Do you need a speedy way to use Boolean symbols to get the right results?Do you want an easy way to check the results?Let me show you how to:Save time in Bullhorn Automation by quickly creating and then testing your search criteriaSave your Bullhorn data as a list to get your recruitment automations up and runningUse Bullhorn Automation with speed so you can help your recruiters get on the phoneRichard Caldicott, Henderson Scott. What Are the 3 Ways Recruiters Can Use Data to Drive Sales?
Recruiters! 80% of your time is spent focusing of the wrong tasks, and 72% of the candidates you place already being on your system before you source them elsewhere. How can you stop procrastinating, and start using your data to manage your clients and candidates to generate more ROI?My Interview with Adam at SourceBreakerI spoke with Adam at SourceBreaker - who is committed to changing the way recruiters source through AI. SourceBreaker is cool automation tool to help recruiters improve speed, pipeline, and work-life balance - so cool that we've added SourceBreaker to our recruiter training platform, Recruitment HIIT. I asked Adam 3 questions on how recruiters can use data to drive sales.1. Adam, give me your thoughts on how recruiters need to adapt to using data to drive their sales process? The very best recruiters offer the candidate or client a service that sets them apart from the competition, having the knowledge to provide added value, and SourceBreaker offers a one-stop-shop for recruiters to do just that.Market Intelligence builds credibility - The data you share with your candidates and clients can separate you from competitors by demonstrating you are the market leader and source of knowledge and increasing your credibility to become a trusted partner of your client. Trigger events, be in the know - Trigger events are a reason to pick up the phone at that time. Creating data that highlights flux within an organisation, such as funding rounds news or the hiring of a new senior exec and makes sure you are selling to the right company at the right time. How do you find and make the most of this data with SourceBreaker?SourceBreaker offers recruiters a one stop shop for that data and market intelligence and automates the process of finding it. Whether that be the latest news about a particular market or company, salary trends, candidate and job flow, and funding data. An example of this could be a startup has just received a round of Series B funding, which would infer they are going to be growing the team and scaling their operations to reach a growth goal set out in their investment plan. Our intel center will inform you the day this business closes the funding allowing you to engage straight away and have candidates ready to spec in.2. Adam, talk to me about new business development, versus account management in recruitment. Our software helps Recruiters reconvert existing clients. This can be used with or without SourceBreaker, but of course SB helps rapidly increase the return on your efforts, presenting market intelligence quickly for you in one place powered by automation for speed and efficiency to give you more time to build deeper relationships with clients. Plus, Recruiters need automation to notify them of jobs, and also to help them map out their clients, so that they can see all of their clients’ jobs. This is a much easier and rewarding way of managing an account! 3. Adam, Recruiters need more time to be effective, but procrastination is a time killer – how can your product help recruiters focus on what they need to do to attract, engage, convert and retain – rather than procrastinate?Recruiters have one of the most complex and varied roles out there, and are often asked to do lots of tasks that spread across different skill sets, from selling and negotiating, to research and data entry.SourceBreaker is designed to automate candidate searching and BD , so that the recruiter can do what they do best and get on the phone and speak with candidates and clients. This enables them to build deeper relationships, and make more placements. We save recruiters over 10 hours a week that they can reinvest in revenue generating activities, and get away from the tedious, but necessary, stuff like building searches, trawling client websites for jobs and manually adding candidates to the CRM.Talking of Recruiters Having More Time and Making More Sales...Could you save your recruiters an hour a day, which is 6 weeks a year? Plus hire less staff than you think you need? Our high intensity interval training - Recruitment HIIT - helps recruiters source, convert quicker, and develop healthy pipelines, and recruitment marketers attract, engage, and retain candidates, generate leads, and colleagues (3Cs). 3 Stats to Help AI Have a Purpose in the Recruitment Process
Recruiters' inboxes are either crowded with the wrong job applications, or ironically empty. They're potentially wasting 13 hours a week screening candidates that are not worthy of their jobs, and they all want AI, but don't know where to start.2021 has to be a year where recruiters engage more with tech, data, and systems, so that they can engage better with their candidates, clients, and colleagues. How can AI (artificial intelligence) help?My Interview with Gareth Christian at ReciiI spoke with Gareth Christian at Recii. They specialise in conversational AI - wow that sounds cool! It's basically where your website helps screen out the candidates you don't want to apply for your jobs, and helps the ones that do, get through to you. I asked Gareth 3 questions about how conversational AI can help recruiters be more productive.1. Gareth, if 50% of candidate applications are a poor fit, how can we make sure that this doesn't bottleneck a recruiter's inbox? The last 12 months has seen a fundamental shift in the recruitment world from a candidate driven market to a role driven space. There’s been a 10-fold increase of job applications - some recruiters can now receive as many as 500 applications.Hence the knock-on effect is that more time is needed for screening. The recruitment process becomes bottled necked at the front, and there’s little time for the rest of the process. This is creating poor candidate (and colleague) experience. It affects sales, too - time to hire is increased and this impacts the consultant’s ability to generate sustainable revenue.Think about how can AI help “declutter” this part of the process.2. Gareth, if 13 hours spent screening candidates each week, with little time for candidate care, and this negatively impacts on candidate experience? With the massive increase in job applications, recruiters need to ensure they are speaking with the correct candidates. With application volumes increasing this can mean less time focusing on processes that can generate revenue.Conversational AI can speak to 000’s of candidates every minute, working through a database and applications to ensure each candidate file is updated, accurate and compliant. It can also remove unconscious basis through screening standardisation, suitability grading and soft skill assessment. A great help for D&I improvements.3. 76% of recruiters believe AI will have an impact on recruitment yet currently, only 10% embrace some form of AI - thoughts Gareth? The coronavirus pandemic has forced the recruitment industry to adopt new ways of working – working from home, technological and agile approaches to recruitment are key.The recruitment industry has always focussed on human interaction, and AI has been seen as “anti-recruiter” – when in fact it could be the driver of better candidate, client, and colleague experience. The key is understanding where in the recruitment process AI is best sat, and how it can boost the rest of the process.---Every piece of tech in your recruitment business needs to serve a purpose, and not simply be a cost. It needs a job to do - and it needs to deliver. AI and automation can take a lot of pain away in 2021 - where is your pain? No time, too many candidates, recruiters doing too much admin, dirty data, not enough jobs? How can tech help?Talking of Recruiters Having More Time and Making More Sales...Could you save your recruiters an hour a day, which is 6 weeks a year? Plus hire less staff than you think you need? Our high intensity interval training - Recruitment HIIT - helps recruiters source, convert quicker, and develop healthy pipelines, and recruitment marketers attract, engage, and retain candidates, generate leads, and colleagues (3Cs).TRY RECRUITMENT HIIT 7 DAYS FOR FREEREAD ABOUT OUR RECRUITMENT TRAININGBOOK A CALL TO DISCUSS RECRUITMENT TRAINING

3 Ways Recruitment Automation Can Help Increase Recruitment Sales
Recruiters! With 80% of your day spent doing the wrong things, having to network around 7 people per sale, and the growing trend on relying on DATA to make your sale, what's does 2021 look like, and how can you use recruitment automation to generate more speed and pipeline? My Interview With Billy at Bullhorn Automation (AKA Herefish)I spoke with Billy Davis at Bullhorn Automation (AKA Herefish) - who's mission it is to revolutionise the recruitment industry. We've been working closely with him help our mutual clients to automate their recruitment processes. I asked Billy 3 questions about how recruitment automation can help drive sales (and productivity).1. Billy, what are your thoughts B2B sales with respect to how to use automation for data-based selling?I think providing a great experience will always have a positive place in sales. With the advancement of AI and machine learning I can see a time in which data becomes the biggest decision making factor in the sales process. We already see some of those shifts in the market today. Poor data quality undermines the effectiveness of AI and machine learning. The biggest benefit of Automation will be the increase in data quality. Identifying and fixing incomplete records, reducing manual data entry, and copying information already known from one area and transporting it to another are just a few mechanisms to achieve this. 2. Billy, how can recruitment automation help with nail the sale? The most important advice here is to create a personal or employment brand so compelling that it can reach all those levels of connections. Recruitment automation can help in two critical capacities. It can act as your megaphone to the market and amplify your reach. It can ensure fantastic experience for candidates/clients so you have as many promoters as possible. 3. Billy, how can automation help recruiters focus on what they need to do to attract, engage, convert and retain – rather than procrastinate?Automation is a tool to solve this problem. Not a solution in and of itself. Understanding the difference between value and non-value activities and coming up with a strategy to change existing behaviour is the ultimate solution. Automation can accelerate that strategy when deployed correctly. Examples include; Eliminating busywork, real time reminders/alerts with process instructions, client/candidate journeys to eliminate lack of communication at any recruitment stage, placement check ins and touchpoints, activity/behaviour driven communication and follow up, and freeing up time for relationship building. ---I'm excited about how recruitment automation will positively impact on the day of a recruiter - generating kore time, better 3Cs (candidates, clients, colleague) expectations and experience - and really help the industry get back on track after such a disruptive 2020.PS: Lisa is running some really useful Recruitment Automation Webinars with Ben Carter at Bullhorn.BOOK YOUR PLACE / WATCH THE RECORDINGSREAD ABOUT RECRUITMENT AUTOMATIONBOOK A CALL TO DISCUSS BULLHORN AND BULLHORN AUTOMATION

Bullhorn Automations - Bullhorn Recruitment on Speed
Recruitment automation is the new black - it's become a deal maker for many recruitment businesses, especially during this time of need for more effective sourcing and sales.I'm delighted that Barclay Jones is now working with recruitment companies to not simply implement Bullhorn Automation (AKA Herefish), but help our clients effectively integrate it into their workflows to improve speed and pipeline. Recruitment Automation - The Ultimate ROI?Recruitment leaders and recruiters, who want to work smarter with the data and systems they have will see recruitment automation as a lifesaver. In fact, Bullhorn Automation's ROI calculator gives you an idea of how many Teslas you could buy with its ROI!It's never been more important to work with what you have, and simply "monetise" it.You're likely to have all of the data you need, in fact, 72% of candidates placed last year, you already had, but spent time and money sourcing them elsewhere (facepalm!) And you're 60-70% more likely to reconvert an existing client than make money from new clients. But still, the chase is what's comfy; sourcing for 13 hours a week and not following up 80% of leads is the norm. Effective recruitment process is in the eye of the beholder. A lot is being left to chance.Recruitment Automation = No Need for More Recruiters? The recruitment sales model has always been to hire more people. When recruitment automation is mentioned as an enabler, recruiters frown at the thought of being replaced by robots. But automation isn't about replacing recruiters - it's about doing the recruitment jobs you don't have time (or people) to do. Best practice can be achieved!Being part of a team who has worked in recruitment tech, training and marketing for 20 years, I'm often frustrated with how recruitment tech can unwittingly turn salespeople into admin. Surely tech is supposed to do the heavy lifting?Recruitment Automation = A Time SaverWhat do you want to do, but don't have time? What should your recruiters be doing but don't do?What can you automate that makes time for you to place more, bill more, sleep more? We'd all love to go back and perfect our dirty data, but without time-machine tech, all we can do is be more effective with the future. I'm on a mission to save every recruiter 1 hour a day (30 days a year) so that they have more time to bill. Bullhorn Automation sits well within my team's arsenal.Recruitment Automation Case StudyI have a client who uses Bullhorn and Bullhorn Automation (AKA Herefish) and we deliver all of his Bullhorn and Induction training. He had his best ever month this April (yes, this April... ) and is hiring his 3rd cohort for the year. Bullhorn Automation (AKA Herefish) is embedded into his recruitment workflow.
